Letter from the Editor “New Old Ground”

There’s beauty in revisiting an “old” place with a new set of eyes. Being able to see a scenario with a new perspective and giving it the quality of something new is a skill we should all learn to love and master.

This applies so beautifully to our travels. Whether out of choice or because, for whatever reason, we can’t afford to travel to a new destination, we will often find ourselves revisiting the same city. Our home town or any usual place will show up in our life over and over again and, at times, it will feel like it has that “same old place” vibe to it.

But even when a place stays the same, we often evolve and grow in so many ways between each visit, that when we go back, we experience it differently. And that’s the beauty of making old ground new. The beauty of enjoying it as if it was the first time we set foot there, just because we can appreciate the new things about it.

Learning to appreciate new old grounds will keep anything exciting, a place, a relationship, a job or even rewatching a movie after a few years of not seeing it. The fun of going back to something that feels old and realizing you’re discovering for the first time all over again, it’s one of the most fascinating things we can experience, and it’s exactly what we are promoting through this issue.
