Letter from the Editor: “Embracing being homesick”

Have you ever felt homesick while travelling? It’s a common feeling that many of us experience when we are away from our loved ones and familiar surroundings. But have you ever thought about embracing this feeling instead of running away from it?

Embracing being homesick means accepting that it’s okay to miss a place or a person. It means acknowledging that missing something is a natural part of travelling and that it’s not a sign of weakness. Instead, it’s a sign that we have lived, loved and enjoyed the people and places that we miss.

This month, we want to encourage you to stop feeling ashamed or embarrassed about being homesick and, instead, embrace and love it! Use this feeling as an opportunity to reflect on your experiences and the memories that you have created. Use it as a chance to reconnect with your loved ones and appreciate the time that you have spent with them.

Remember that missing something is not a negative feeling. It’s a positive reminder that we have had meaningful experiences and that we have created lasting memories. So, the next time you feel homesick while travelling, don’t fight it. Embrace it, love it, and use it as an opportunity to reflect on your life and experiences. Life is short, and there’s nothing wrong with wanting more of the people and places that make us feel at home.
